We started him off by collecting the state quarter through a program called PCS Stamps & Coins. You sign up on their program and they send you 1-2 panels with everything on the card you could possibly want to know about that particular state, as well as the quarters for that state. The panels are about $18.00 a month and come with state stamp and the information on the state such as, the state flower, motto and what it's famous for.
The stamps are a great way to get Skylar to appreciate stamp collecting too. It's a great learning tool and we can't wait for the next panels to come every month.

If committing to a monthly panel through a coin dealer is a bit too much at first, start your kids off with the quarters from our beautiful state parks. The one pictured below was purchased in Washington at a visitor's center in Kettle Falls. It is of Hot Springs National Park, Arkansas (my home town) but, you can start your collection at any visitor's center nation-wide.
Hi. How did you purchase those collector panels in the photos (the ones with the coins and the stamps and the explanation about the park, state, stamp, etc)?
