He's a Big Kid Now with his own Savings Account

And, thanks to Namaw for sending birthday money he can add an additional $50 to his very own account.

He even got to sign his own name! 

Hopefully, by the time we move next year from Oregon to Arkansas, he will have a lot saved and can use it for the trip!  He has already been asking to add his change to the account.  Good habits taught early!

Fundraisers are Breaking the Bank

My son's school is always having fundraisers.  I think at one time, we had about six different fundraisers going at once.  Everything from selling flower bulbs to magazines to even cookie dough and cakes.  It's not the fact of the fundraiser itself, it's the fact that it's starting to break the bank a little. 

My son can sell about 19 items for his fundraiser that he is doing, at the time, and then it lays on my shoulders to push it to that final 20 items.  Just when we think that we are in the clear for awhile of the fundraiser phenomenon, here comes another one.

But, just when I think I am at my wits-end here comes one that I really like. Ha!  I do like a good fundraiser from time-to-time and when one comes that peeks my interest, I completely forget about how much I disliked the other that came before it.  The ones above is the Entertainment Coupon Book and it is one of my favorites. I am a coupon-er at heart and try to save whenever I can so, this one was right up my alley.  There is coupons for just about everything in here.  Groceries, shoes, hotels, books, heating/ac repair, etc.

But, then you get that one that really irks you.

You have to take the time to fill out every single line and address the cards to over 10 people that you know.  Then, explain to the people you are sending the cards to what's going on and why you are raising money, yet again.

And, you can't say no because they show a prize that is just oh so tempting for your child!  Grrrrr! 

I have to remind myself, "It's for a good cause, Shelly!"  But, grrrrrrrrr!  :)

Air Hockey Disappointment

Who would have thought....

This innocent air hockey table could bring such disappointment to an eight-year-old.  But, it did....

The game began.  It seemed to start out just fine and both players were ready to claim victory over the other.

Things got pretty heated between the two...

Words were exchanged and the taunts began.....

The battle got more intense as both players were in a dead stand-still with points scored.

Then, one claimed victory over the other and the disappointment began. 

                                         But, he mustn't forget that he did win a few game too.

I don't really make it a habit to buy cereal with fancy logos, colors or even toys that are normally stuck way down in the bottom of the box but......tongue tattoos.....I just had to!
